Do I look like I'm english ed?

When I was younger, my classmates used to refer me as the foreigner because I had lighter brown hair last time that eventually turn to pure black and I spoke decent English then because it was my mother tongue. 

Then I became a pure Chinese speaker after a while because everyone around me speaks Chinese, including in Puteri and MMU. Everyone, including stranger speaks to me in Chinese on our first meeting. 

Then I came here. Somehow, everyone started to speak to me in English. Not that I mind though, I love the language but I am curious about the reason behind this change. 

During my first week of work, everyone spoke to me in English, its understandable because I never reveal to them that I knew Canto or Chinese. Then after I spoke to them in Canto which they used to interact with each other, they still speak English to me. One moment they are talking in canto and de other second, they turn to me and speak eng which I found fascinating. 

Then today when I was tapau_ing my dinner, the guy spoke to me in eng. Then he spoke in chinese with the guy behind of me. I was a little amazed actually. Do I look like a non-chinese speaker? 

I really wanna know why.
